Dynamics of Later life working
For this section of the project 110 interviews were carried out with:
- Employees over 50 years of age (51 Interviews)
- Employers (20 Interviews)
- Job seekers over 50 years of age (27 Interviews)
- Recently retired individuals (12 Interviews)
- Increases in state pension age
- Changes in public and private sector pensions
- The removal of the default retirement age
- New age discrimination legislation
- An increase in high profile age discrimination cases
Preliminary findings were validated and discussed at a series of four different panels of invited experts. The panel members comprised of HR professionals, OH experts, line managers, employment lawyers, trade union representatives civil servants, senior academics, practitioners and researchers in the disciplines of health and safety, health psychology and gerontology.
